Famous for its ancient temples and natural beauty, golf tours here promise to bring both challenge and relaxation to players. Cambodia isn’t as well-known for golf as its neighbors, but it’s still a great place to play golf. Golf trips here promise to be both challenging and relaxing.

The area is known for its old temples and natural beauty. Cambodia’s golf courses are famous for their hard layouts, well-kept greens, and gorgeous settings of old temples and verdant countryside. Two high-end golf courses include Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap, which Nick Faldo developed, and Grand Phnom Penh Golf Club, which features modern amenities.

The weather is typically warm and nice, so you may play golf virtually all year. The greatest time to go is between November and February, when it’s chilly and dry. When you come to Cambodia to play golf, you may also see iconic sites like the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Reasons to Visit and Golf in Cambodia

Let’s be honest: when most people plan a Southeast Asian golf trip, they immediately look at Thailand or Vietnam. And those are great, but they are absolutely packed. Rounds can take five hours, and the resorts often feel like factories pumping out tee times. This is exactly why a Cambodia golf holiday is suddenly the smartest move you can make. It’s still largely under the radar, the crowds haven’t ruined it yet, and the courses are legitimately world-class.

You aren’t going to find fifty different courses to choose from here. Cambodia went for quality over volume. If you decide to play golf in Cambodia, you’re stepping onto layouts that rival the best private clubs back home, just without the pretension. Take Angkor Golf Resort, for example. Nick Faldo designed it, and he didn’t pull any punches. The fairways are immaculate, but the water hazards are everywhere, and they will absolutely wreck your scorecard if you’re spraying the ball. The beauty of it, though, is the peace. You aren’t being pushed by the group behind you. It’s just you, your caddie, and the heat.

The trip usually anchors around two cities, and they couldn’t be more different. Siem Reap is the one everyone knows because of the temples. There is something deeply surreal about hitting a perfect drive in the morning, and three hours later, you’re wandering through the stone corridors of Angkor Wat while monkeys try to steal your water bottle. It’s a jarring, brilliant contrast.

Phnom Penh, on the other hand, is sheer chaos in the best way possible. It’s a loud, fast-moving capital. The courses sit right on the periphery of this massive urban sprawl. You get this highly manicured, tranquil golf experience, and then the second you leave the gates, you’re back in the thick of motorbikes and street vendors. I highly recommend taking a boat out on the Mekong River after a round there just to escape the noise for a bit.

We have to talk about the money, too. Golf is expensive. Travel is expensive. But a Cambodia golf tour somehow breaks the math. The amount you pay for a round, a knowledgeable caddie, and a five-star hotel is almost absurdly low compared to the US or Europe. You can essentially live like royalty for a week booking the big suite, getting daily massages to fix your swing-wrecked back, eating massive dinners and still spend less than you would on a standard weekend trip to a Florida resort.

And the food is half the reason to go. Walking 18 holes in the Cambodian humidity will drain you. Replenishing with a massive plate of beef Lok Lak or a bowl of lemongrass-heavy Fish Amok is an incredible feeling. The local food is deeply flavorful but doesn’t rely on the intense spice levels you sometimes find across the border.

Ultimately, golf in Cambodia isn’t just about chasing a little white ball around. It’s the fact that you can play a championship-level track, shoot a frustrating 88, and immediately go get lost in a 12th-century jungle ruin to gain some perspective.

4 to 5 days are typically enough for you to enjoy a fulfilling golf experience in Cambodia. This amount of time allows you to play on multiple golf courses and still have time to explore the local culture and attractions. If you think it is a waste to spend a large amount of money on international flights for this short time in Cambodia, you can extend your golf holiday to Thailand or Vietnam, the two most wonderful countries in Southeast Asia for golf.

Many people think that golfing in Cambodia is cheaper than golfing in other popular places in Southeast Asia. The green fees can change, but in general, they are a good deal, especially when you think about how nice the courses are and how beautiful they are. Prices can change based on the course’s reputation, location, and time of year, just like they do at any other destination. So it’s always a good idea to check the current rates and any Cambodia golf packages that are available.

Cambodia is mostly safe for tourists, and many people come each year to see its beautiful nature and rich culture. But, like with any place you visit, you should be careful, especially in busy tourist areas and at night, to protect yourself from petty theft and have a good time.

Great Trip-Cambodia
Jenny O’Connor Cambodia Golf Package 9 Days
We first travelled with GolfLux in 2024 to Vietnam & then again in 2026 to Cambodia. Great tour operator as they combine sightseeing with golf. Golf courses in Cambodia were excellent-hidden gems of Asia. Sightseeing was also excellent with knowledgeable local guides. Nothing was too much trouble for Alex who even arranged an extra day of golf for us when plane was delayed to Siem Reap. Would highly recommend GolfLux.
